The Sanganeri Quilts are said to have a latent quality of being light weight. The cotton is beaten by hand to an extent that it becomes like a layer of fabric, which is then sandwiched between the two soft cotton hand printed fabric layers.
The Sanganeri Quilt fabric is printed with traditional motifs which are essentially a replica of the Mughal art. Florals and botanical plants are the primary themes of such kind of designs. These are then filled with muted colorways giving them a bygone era look. One can see such kind of motifs on many historical Mughal architectural monuments in India.
Major part of Rajasthan, during this era, was under the direct rule of the Mughal Sultanat residing in Delhi. The traditional sanganeri hand block prints thus show inspirations from the persian art and craft .
